# Editing survey messaging

## View or edit a survey's default messaging such as buttons and instructional text that is seen by the respondent.

🔨 **How it works** 

- If you have a multi-language survey, you can edit the survey messaging for the base language and any additional languages you add.
- To do so, navigate to the **Languages** tab on the top toolbar of the **Configure** tab within the **Survey Editor**. 
    - You can either click on **Edit Messaging** button or directly go to **Messages** tab to update the messaging.

- If you change the base language of your survey, the survey messaging will be automatically translated to the language that you selected.

**Note**: If you have added additional languages to create a multi-language survey, the survey messaging will automatically display in the language/s you have selected. You will also have the option to edit the messaging of each language.
